Our Day At “The Great Pumpkin Patch” (Love Creek Orchard)
Next post
The second autumn that I lived in San Antonio, I started hearing my friend talk about Love Creek Orchard. The rumor was, that they had some of the best apple pie you have ever had. It’s baked fresh from their delicious apples, harvested right next door. They also have one of the the best pumpkin patches in the area. PLanning a visit to the orchard has been on my wish list or years, and I just never nailed down a day to make the trip until now! Thanks to our lovely kindergarten cooperative for planning such a fun field day.
As a photographer, I may judge pumpkin patches differently than other people. To me, it matters what their hours are, and how much shade they have. Harsh sunlight that causes squinty eyes, and weird shadows just isn’t great for pumpkin patch pictures!
As a mom, I’m more interested in what activities there are for the kids to do, affordability, and convenience.
Medina, where Love Creek Orchard is located, is a good hour and a half drive from our home. It was well worth the drive, as Mia had one of the best days, and we made many great memories.

There were many fun props and photo setups for photos. The pumpkin patch itself wasn’t the greatest, but the activities far exceeded other patches I have been too.
For pumpkin shopping, I am going to load up a wagon at a nearby church pumpkin patch. However, there were some there that you could purchase. There was squash and corn as well….you could fill a cornucopia! π
After a full morning of fun at the pumpkin patch, we zipped right up the street for lunch and dessert at the apple cafe. The burgers there lived up to their titles for one of the greatest burgers in TX., and even though it was hard to choose form many delicious pastries, we grabbed an oversized chocolate cookie for the ride home. It was good down to the last crumb.
